“It’s a good year for white pants and jerseys,” said Life CHAMPS director Ben Faires with a big smile. “Through our good friends at Pulaski Academy, Little Rock Central, and War Memorial (and maybe another school will step up and help us out), our Life CHAMPS tackle teams will have the opportunity to play big boy football on some of the finest football facilities in Arkansas.”

Life CHAMPS directors Anthony Lucas and Ben Faires with Coach Kevin Kelly from Pulaski Academy on the PA football field.
When asked about the white jersey comment, Faires went on to say, “Everyone of these stadiums have state-of-the-art field turf. It can rain for inches and inches and the worst thing that can happen is we play on a wet field. No more mud and muck, just great kids playing great football. This is a real opportunity to take things to an entirely different level and get our kids used to playing on the fields that they’ll be playing on at middle school and high school. It was obvious we had to try and pull this off after watching the kids’ eyes light up when they walked out on those fields for our Super Bowls last year. Let’s face it, there is just something special about playing in front of those stands,” continued Faires.
“We started this organization with the faith that people would believe in us and our numbers just keep growing. It’s because of the fantastic group of volunteer coaches and parents that we have at Life CHAMPS.”

There are a few other changes happening this year at Life CHAMPS:
· Games will be played on Sunday afternoons. We decided to act on the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received during last season’s Sunday afternoon playoff games and give everybody a chance to experience the relaxed fun and fellowship that only the weekend can offer.
· 9-10 and 11-12 tackle will play on 100-yard turf fields. Our Junior and Senior tackle leagues have become more and more competitive and we are supporting this move by our coaches and players. We are giving them an opportunity to play on the finest facilities the state has to offer.
· All other games will still be played at Fellowship Fields. We will continue to play Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Flag as well as Sophomore Tackle games at Fellowship Field.
· Our season will start a couple weeks later (mid-September). Because of our ability to play under the lights at Quigley-Cox, Pulaski Academy and War Memorial, we can allow our kids and coaches the opportunity to get a few more weeks of practice under their belts and really get ready before the season starts.
· Flag teams will bring 7 protected/frozen players pre-draft.
· Tackle teams will have the following protected/frozen players pre draft:
· 7-8 tackle: 11 players
· 9-10 tackle: 15 players
· 11-12 tackle: Unlimited
This stair-step approach creates semi-competitive, competitive, and very competitive environments, as our kids get older. This format is ideal and has proven its merit in player development. It gives coaches the opportunity to create continuity and will create a stronger sense of “team” for the kids as they move into the very competitive strides of middle school athletics.
· Early Registration Discount Options – Life CHAMPS will offer discounts to those who register early. By registering early, we will be able to offer a number of different “Eval/Combine” options at D-1 and effectively save everyone from a mass Eval/Combine in the hot August sun! e” options at D-1 and effectively save everyone from a mass Eval/Combine in the hot August sun!
